To: US
Consular General, Montréal From: The Dead
September 15th, 2005 Dear Consular
General, We are writing to
you today because we need you to answer some questions for us. We will be
at the front entrance of the US Consulate as of noon on Monday September
19th, awaiting you to come out to address our concerns.
US General Tommy Franks, speaking on the
war in Iraq, claimed: “We don’t do body counts.” The US administration in
collusion with corporate media have consistently tried to cover-up the
true and total horrors of the Iraqi invasion, even going as far as to ban
film coverage of troops coming home in coffins. Why is the US Government
so reluctant to tally up the dead? The deaths, after all, were brought on
by this unmitigated disaster – a greedy and imperialistic invasion for oil
cloaked as a mission against Weapons of Mass Destruction, which never
existed. I suspect that their reason for trying to keep things hushed up
is this:
We find it unfortunate that the US
government is refusing to add up the deaths caused by their imperialist
invasion. We would like to see some accountability, responsibility and
some explanation. Please answer the following question for us:
WHY WERE OVER 30,000
PEOPLE KILLED FOR OIL?
I am sure you will understand that the
dead cannot rest in peace until explanations are made as to why we lost
our lives, lives that should have been long and productive. Please come
out of your office and explain yourself. We will be waiting in front of
the Consulate to hear from you.
Sincerely,
The Dead
